Kaleidoscope™ A Reflection on Women’s Journeys™ Advice to Younger Self

The philosopher Kierkegaard said, “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.”  Embedded in this quote is the knowledge that when we look back at life we have the advantage of time and wisdom to reflect on our challenges and successes.  Our theme for this contest is, what advice would you give your younger self? If you had the luxury of going back and advising your younger self would there be major pitfalls to be avoided, opportunities that were missed because you were headstrong going somewhere else?  It is easily argued that a life has to be lived and pain and challenges are all part of the journey but what if you could advise that younger you?  What would you say? Coming of Age in the 60’s & 70’s Contest

Are we entering a Golden era for women? 102 women will be serving in the newly seated 116th Congress. Is the #metoo movement an indication that women have had enough of one sided gender politics and power? Do we see a world where our daughters are finding access to the highest levels of power in all aspects of life? Have we reached a tipping point or is this merely part of a continual slow progression. What experiences in your life have influenced how you think about the above questions? We are collecting personal stories that have shaped your view about how women are doing and perhaps what’s left to be done. Below is a theme that may illustrate how we view the current state of women and what things we can do to continue an upward trajectory.

This contest is for women who came of age in the 60’s and 70’s to share their stories.  That particular period was the beginning of what promised to be a new era for expanding the potential of women.  From the women’s movement, a focus on equal rights and feminism to doors opening into new careers and opportunities, looking back and across the span of your life, did that period live up to its promise?  What did or didn’t happen and is that promise still alive today? You could be our Grand Prize Winner.  Review contest details here.
